From the popular excursion mountain, it is only a few steps to the romantic valley between the mountain stations of the two mountains. Easy hike with some altitude in the descent.
This tour is full of romantic moments: When the first rays of sunshine flash over the Heuberggrat. When the mighty plateau of the High Ifen suddenly comes into view. The Walmendinger Alpe, which is idyllically surrounded by the mountain stream ... Optimal is the tour, if the mountain lift ticket in the guest card is included in the accommodation price - so you can leave out the descent from Heuberg or alternatively to Schwarzwassertal and instead take a seat in the Heuberg chairlift.
Do not miss the sunrise ascent to Walmendingerhorn and experience the sunrise all alone between Horn and Heuberg ridge
Take it slow and hop on the cable car Walmendingerhornbahn for ascent. After the cattle gate below the mountain station, a path turns left towards Walmendinger Alpe and Heuberg ridge. In the hollow below the summit slope you walk about 30 minutes down to the Upper Walmendinger Alpe. The path is varied and natural, shorter rocky passages are well feasible with a little surefootedness. At the hut Walmendinger Alpe (open in mid-summer) you enter the forest and walk further downhill. At the homestead of the Lower Walmendinger Alpe we follow the path towards Heuberg. Alternatively, you can follow the driveway to Schwarzwassertal. The flat forest path tells us that we are getting closer to the Heuberg. Arriving at the broad forest road, we follow the signs to the mountain station Heubergbahn and take the chairlift down to Hirschegg.

Most routes from Germany lead to Ulm before carrying on along the A7. Take the Allgäu junction over a section of the A980 to the Waltenhofen junction, then take the 4- lane B19 via Sonthofen and Oberstdorf to Kleinwalsertal. From Austria (Vorarlberg) and Switzerland you reach the Kleinwalsertal via the Bregenzerwald (Hittisau) – Riedbergpass – Fischen – Oberstdorf. From Tyrol the fastest route is over the A7 to Kempten carrying on along the B19 direction Oberstdorf. A motorway vignette is not required to reach the valley.
A parking area (fee required) is located directly by the starting point.
