The theme of times past recreates life in Levi in the late 18th century. The relationship between man and nature is dealt with humour in a series of 16 signposts
The route starts at the gate to the outdoor routes (in front of the Crazy Reindeer Arena) and heads east circling clockwise around the Levi and back to the Levi center. Travelling a distance is approximately 18 km. The trail has a good overview of the golf park. It is possible to see reindeers in the surroundings. The first part of the route is a wide ski trail base all the way to the Golf club. Choose the path towards Sammuntupa. Some parts of the route are quite rocky.
From Sammuntupa the route continues to Torajainen, where there is an old reindeer fence. From there the route back to Levi centre goes over a panorama bridge, from where you can admire the lake Immel situated in between two fells, fell Levi and fell Kätkä.
Visit the Kellostapuli, the abrupt hill close to the Sammuntupa on the way.
Trail parts which have rocks and roots may be slippery after the rain.
If the weather is grey and there is a strong wind at the fell, you can choose a route south from the Lappish tepee of Utsuvaara. The route starts at the gate to the outdoor routes (in front of the Arena) and heads east. The first part of the route is a wide ski trail base all the way to the Golf club. Take the route turning up to right takes you to Utsuvaara kota / tepee. After the tepee, there is a small uphill. The route goes down through the beautiful pine forest to an old reindeer fence in Torajainen. From there the route back to the Levi centre goes over a panorama bridge, from where you can admire the lake Immel situated in between the two fells, fell Levi and fell Kätkä. When you take advantage of this option the length of the hike is 13.5 km.
Hiking daypack (approx. 20 liters) with rain cover, comfortable and sturdy footwear, adequate and durable outdoor clothing in multiple layers, telescope sticks if necessary, sun and rain protection, snacks and drinking water, first aid kit, penknife, mobile phone, headlight if necessary, map.
