Turn-by-turn directions
From Graniga we go down beautiful mule tracks to San Lorenzo and then to Bognanco Fonti. At the end of the village, near a green house, take path D00 towards Ca' Monsignore, which crosses a beautiful stone bridge at the ravine of Rio Rabianca. The path goes halfway up the hill and then steeply down to the stream, which you cross over a spectacular stone bridge and soon ascend to the Dagliano Oratory.
Continue uphill and then flat on a beautiful mule track to Monteossolano. You pass a church dedicated to San Gottardo and continue along an asphalt road until you reach Pregliasca. From here, you go along the slope along a firebreak, past some streams, then along a steep mule track in the woods, down to Cisore and then along a wide and well-preserved paved mule track to Mocogna.
Cross the road bridge over T. Bogna and descend along the road to reach Castanedo. From here you take a wide, well-preserved mule track leading to Vagna (Maggianigo). Around Vagna many chapels and oratorios scattered in the forest tell local stories.
You then ascend shortly after Croppo and walk first on a forest path and then on a dirt road to the agglomeration of Motto and the chapel Marisch. A beautiful stepped and mule track takes you to the Sacro Monte Calvario square, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Via Crucis leads you down to Domodossola and in a short time you reach the historical centre and the railway station.
