from the church of Santa Maria go down to the first hairpin turn and take the little road which rises steeply (via Macallè) and in about 700 m reaches 720 m above the sea level; here you see the first explicative panels about the life of the prehistoric populations. Carry on walking on the road with easy ups and downs through abandoned chestnut woods where you can notice a type of light grey rock, the “Calpionelle limestone” which is not good for carving. In a few hundreds of metres you begin to see a totally different red rock: jasper. We are at the bottom of Roccia di Lagorara. The footpath and the panels take us to the ancient quarries where the prehistoric populations identified the most productive and malleable vein of jasper. The return trip is along the same itinerary.
