The colours of the rocks which can be found in this itinerary constitute its main point of interest: their reddish, greenlightblue and grey tones, alongside with the green of the wood feature a unique landscape.
Distance 9.7 km
in Bargone's main square you find the guideboards for “Monte Treggin”. The muletrack soon becomes a path wich rises under the chestnut trees. Walking up the slope you see the first green rocks with scattered pines and mediterranean shrubs as far as a pass at 650 m where you keep on walking on reddish rocks (jasper). In the last stretch pay attention when walking on the rocks of Monte Treggin (870 m). A little further away from the top, keep on walking down on stone steps carved: pay attention on the trail sign as its colour is very similar to the rocks. You cross a hairy oaks wood with some chestnuts untill you reach, at 840 m, a dirt road which you follow to the right. You pass close to the Stagni di Bargone (or di Roccagrande), a wetland which hosts several amphibians, including the YellowBellied Frog and the Great Crested Newt. After a few ups and downs you reach Passo di Bargone (or Bocco di Bargone): near the pass there is a grassy area where on the right is the path signed by the red triangle. Following this path downhill in an hour you reach the caracteristic village of Costa and then, in 10 minutes, you arrive in Bargone.
