Today walk from Ruhpolding through the Chiemgau Alps to Inzell. Make your way across farmland, accompanied by the faint sound of cowbells, before reaching the clear blue water of Traubensee where the Rauschberg mountain towers over you. This is a perfect place to plan an alfresco picnic; make sure to pick up some homemade bread from the local bakery in Ruhpolding.
The trail continues deep into the leafy green forest as you follow a well-worn track along the mountainside of the Rauschberg mountain until you reach Inzell.
Gasthaus Schmelz - A Restaurant worth stopping at the end of your walk, it is the only place to stop for refreshments during this leg is at the end of the hike.
Rauschbergbahn cable car - If you have an additional night in Ruhpolding, a trip on the Rauschbergbahn cable car is well worth the effort: http://www.rauschbergbahn.com/
Max Aichner Arena - In Inzell, you could also pay a visit to the Max Aichner Arena: https://www.max-aicher-arena.de/ . This is an indoor speed skating venue with an ice hockey rink.
We recommend wearing hiking boots that are well broken-in, plus a rain jacket and waterproof trousers in wet weather, as well as taking sun cream and a hat on nicer days.
In your information pack, you’ll find a detailed list of all the required hiking gear, including some good hiking boots, appropriate clothing, a rain jacket and a backpack.
