The Moselsteig side-step runs mainly on forest and meadow paths.Insights into the hiking tour:Many small villages around the Hunsrück town of Kleinich have formed a parish since the Reformation, the Protestant "Kirchspiel" Kleinich. The villages are distributed four to five hundred meters above the Moselle in a hilly open landscape, broken up by densely wooded brook valleys. The ups and downs of hill and dale with many distant views and water features characterize the side jump "Kirchspiel's Tälertour".Refreshments are available at the start/finish in Kleinich, backpack catering is recommended for the way.

Turn-by-turn directions
Many small villages around the Hunsrück town of Kleinich have formed a parish since the Reformation, the Protestant "Kirchspiel" Kleinich. The name has remained common to this day, even after the French Revolution, when the civil territorial authority was created and the parish became the parish of Kleinich. These villages are characterised by beautiful slate-clad farms and houses. They are spread four to five hundred metres above the Moselle in a hilly open landscape. The start and finish of the 13 kilometre long premium hiking trail is the fire station in Kleinich. From here you hike through forests and meadows to the small villages of Emmeroth and Pilmeroth. Then you walk past the imposing Bilstein rock into the valley of the Trabener Bach. The sound of water is now a constant companion. Because the path soon leads you along another mountain stream, the Kautenbach. This is followed by the ascent to the village of Fronhofen via a former "Eierpädchen" and an old abandoned country road. In earlier times, both roads formed a direct connection from the parish to the Moselle and served the exchange of goods. Speaking of trade - in Emmeroth there is a farm shop with alpaca wool clothes.
