This is an easy trip that is suitable for families with children. The hike starts on a gravel road in a farm landscape. Most of the farms in Hemsedal are situated in Lio. After 800-900 m the trail towards the top starts in the corner of a field. At the top, Venåshøvda, you will be rewarded with stunning views of Tuv and the Northside of Mørkedalen (the valley).
After you reach the top you can choose to track your steps going down the same way or continue down the south side of the valley. The round trip trail is a bit steeper than the return trail. However, if you chose to continue forwards you will pass old hay barns and walk through a beautiful birk forest. This side of the mountain is also where the cows hide from the sun on hot days. At the bottom of the hill, you follow the old Kings Road and some parts of the RV. 52, back to the parking on Lio road.

There is construction going on in the area of the Venås bridge, so for the summer of 2022, we recommend you to only walk the upper part and not go the round trip as it might be a lot of construction and trucks by the bridge.
There is a hanging bridge over the river Grøndøla, by the crossing, Rv. 52 and Liovegen, check it out.
Remember to close all gates after you and to keep your dog on a leash.
