A roundtrip hike in the valley of Hemsedal that follows the river to Ulsåk and back. Suitable for most hikers with plenty of resting benches and areas to set up camp for the day.
This trail goes from Hemsedal centre and follows the river to Ulsåk. The return path goes up Grønåsstigen, the hill on the north side of the valley. This hike is marked green and most should be able to do it within a few hours. There is a bench along the river and when you get to the top of grønåstigen you will have a good view of the valley.
We recommend this trip for days where the clouds lay low and there might not be any sight from the top mountains. On days like these, your chances of seeing large moose.
There are two places along the path that is suitable for a BBQ, the first one is in Ulsåk, right after you turn right away from the river, across the hanging bridge. Take a left into the forest, on a small wooden path and walk for 100m until you see the small house and benches. The other is halfway back, you will decent from the hill and close to the bridge, there are a few benches where you can make a fire.
If you do not wish to walk all the way to Ulsåk, cross the bridge halfway along the river and follow the path back.
