Gran Tour del Monviso

The Grand Tour of Monviso is one of the most spectacular high altitude treks in Europe, offering panoramic views of the different profiles of the "King of Stone" and the chance to experience nature, protected by two natural parks, in a constantly changing environment.Along the way you will come across the rocky walls of the southern massif, the shimmering, crystal-clear green-blue waters of the lakes of the Giargiatte Valley, the twisted stone pines of the Alevé Woods and the splendid lakes of the Upper Po Valley. The panoramic "Sentiero del Postino" trail, the historic Monte Viso Tunnel, the vast spaces of Queyras and the exceptional viewpoint of Cima Losetta are also worthy of note.The Grand Tour of Monviso can start from any of the following Italian valleys: Po Valley, Varaita Valley or Pellice Valley, or from the Guil Valley in France.The full loop can take from two to a maximum of six days. If you have 4 or 5 days free, you can do the full loop which also includes the upper Pellice Valley, passing through the splendidly rural Conca del Prà and the Rifugio Barbara Lowrie mountain hut. The loop is all classified E, except for the Sentiero del Postino trail and the Pian Mait – Colle Armoine section (EE).
