An interesting hike in the Vezzano area, not far from Trento, which can also be done in the off-seasons, is the hike to the glacial pits, perfect round caves created by the erosions of the last ice age. The trail was dedicated to the scientist Antonio Stoppani, who was the first to dedicate himself to the study of this phenomenon.

Stoppani Park extends on the lower western slope of Monte Castion, which is also the eastern slope of the Valle dei Laghi. The park is set in a beautiful natural environment of cedar and Pinot Noir, with an average altitude of 450 metres. The path begins near Vezzano. It has a total length of 3.5 km with 230 km of elevation gain; in total the hike takes 1.30 hours, of course it takes a little longer if you stop to play. There are numerous glacier huts or outlets for the giants (about 20). Among the most interesting: the Bus de la Maria Mata or Pozzo Stoppani, this cave is very pronounced and eye-catching, the San Valentino glacier pits have a classic small cave shape, the Lusan caves have the typical rounded shape of the glacier outlets and smooth slopes due to the rubbing of the pebbles. The largest pit is the Bus dei Poieti, about 12 m deep. It is safe to descend into this pit via an iron staircase. Traces of human settlements show that the caves were probably used as dwellings or
