The "Sentiero dei 7 passi" follows ancient roads that connect the seven villages of Vezzano (Santa Massenza, Fraveggio, Lon, Margone, Ciago, Ranzo): the footprint in the shape of a "7" is the symbol that accompanies the route. The section "dello Scal" was / is a mule track that connected the valley floor with Ranzo and Margone: it was used by donkeys before the construction of the road (1949 and 1957) that served to build the ENEL hydroelectric plant of Santa Massenza, one of the largest in Italy (guided tours on special occasions, e.g. the national event "Centrali Aperte"). This excursion allows us to enjoy the climate and the Mediterranean vegetation that characterises the Valley of the Lakes.
From the church of San Lorenzo di Ciago (540 m), a village below the southern slopes of Monte Gazza, go üvia Belvedere towards "Sentiero dei 7 passi" which at the beginning joins the cobbled path Sat n. 627. Leave this to take the flat Tortol-Calchera track (lime kiln where lime was produced in the past), which descends the mountain through the woods to Lon (550 m; 0.30 h); here it is worth making a detour to the solitary church of Sant'Antonio (1893) with a panoramic view of Lake Santa Massenza. We ücross the S.P. to descend along an old road in Fraveggio (427 m; 0.20 h), picturesque on its squares and in the rosemary cascade that surrounds the church of Sant'Bartolomeo. Continue along the picturesque lake of Santa Massenza and the village of the same name - where, according to tradition, Massenza, the mother of Bishop Vigilio, lived - halfway up the mountain, planted with vineyards and olive groves, until you reach the village of Santa Massenza;The path continues until it reaches the
