Helene Bombezy's lonely memorial as a martyr is unusual in that most crosses bear religious inscriptions, monograms such as; INR (Jesus King of Jews), IHR (Jesus Saviour of Man), possibly due to limitations of space or the stonemason's literacy. Local evidence suggests that Helene's fate was criminal.
