The Eifel town of Manderscheid, in the middle of the Volcanic Eifel and on the edge of the collar of the Lieser valley, stands out with its historic atmosphere. It’s as if it has been made especially for hiking. All around Manderscheid, the “Manderscheider Burgenstieg”, or castle trail, offers ever-changing perspectives onto the impressive dual castle complex and the town. The trail takes you along narrow, natural paths through the forest and high above the Lieser river. These highlights make the hike an absolute must! The tour is rounded off by fabulous photogenic views onto the upper and lower Manderscheid castles.
