The new Achterhöhe adventure trail not only offers wonderful panoramic views of the unique landscape of the Volcanic Eifel, but also takes you very close to rare flora and fauna.

The hike starts with the descent into the valley, which offers a wonderful far-reaching view of the surroundings. Pass a heath dotted with heather and summer flowers. The unique view down into the Ueßbach valley completes the hiking experience. On the Eifelblick "Achterhöhe", a bench invites you to enjoy the panorama. The trail continues through the forest, past several colonies of the red forest ant. An information board here vividly encourages you to explore the fascinating nature and culture of the Volcanic Eifel. The trail then leads to the "Kreuzbüsch" and its natural wetland biotopes. Here grass snakes and adder can be observed in their natural habitat. On the last section, the trail passes the remains of burial mounds. The tour gives you a great insight into the diversity of the natural landscape of the Volcanic Eifel.
