Hong Kong Trail Section Two begins at Pokfulam Reservoir Road, you follow the cement vehicular road and pass the Pokfulam Reservoir. This reservoir was the first water storage facility on Hong Kong Island. The mature secondary forests in the catchment area have been declared a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI). Besides, this is a good place for visitors to enjoy the nature environment.
Continuing on, at a fork of the path, two signs indicate whether there is a through road for horses up ahead. The paved hacking trail is a trotting route for the horses. The oldest public riding schools in Hong Kong is located here. This section of the trail has many rain shelters and benches.
The entire Section Two lies within the plantations of Pokfulam Country Park. It is a lovely green hike with good shade and attractive flora all the way. At the end of the hacking trail is a flight of steps. Care is advised for the steps, as they are slightly more demanding than the paved footways. At a shelter, you can view Tin Wan, Aberdeen, Apleichau and Lamma Island. Moving on from this scenic spot and past a flight of steeper steps, the trail-heads southwest via a cement road alongside the catchwater. Here you can spot Hindu Datura (Datura metel), one of Hong Kong's four most poisonous plants. A few steps ahead, you arrive at Peel Rise, the end of Hong Kong Trail Section Two.
Take public transport to Pokfulam Road and get off at Pokfulam Reservoir Road. Walk for about 20 minutes along the road to Pokfulam Family Walk. There, turn right for Section Two of the Hong Kong Trail. Transport routes available are:
For your return journey from Peel Rise, walk down the road for about 20 minutes to Aberdeen Reservoir Road and then on to Aberdeen Main Road.
