Description also available in Italian and German.
It is possible to find water here most commonly in winter and sometimes in spring. It seems that the 2002 eruption changed the ground conditions, decreasing the amount of water flowing into the torrent during periods of melting snow. It is best to go to visit the torrent after a rainy day. You can find it from Zafferana Etnea, going toward Milo. Follow the signs to the Citelli refuge, but at the last fork you have to take the right turn, in Piano Provenzana direction. After 2 km, you will see the indication to the torrent. It flows right under the road. Once there, you can reach one of the two panoramic sites indicated on the road signs. We went to the one called "Secondo Monte". It's a short walk, which just after a few turns leads you to the front of a stairway. From the top you will see:
Mount "Frumento delle Concazze"2002 lava flow with the "stone forest"the Ionian seaThe lava flow inside the wood. Probably, the torrent itself does not merit a visit, but if you are going for one of the many paths starting in the surroundings, such as "Monti Sartorius", "Grotta di Serracozzo", "Monte Frumento", you could decide to look for it, or at the very least go for the beautiful panorama as shown in the picture.Find more at www.etnatracking.com
