The hill is a typical green summit that dominates the Cima Sappada plain, bordered to the north by the haystacks of Plotzn and to the south by the mouth of the Val Degano.The shelter, restored in recent years, stands almost at the summit, along with a statue of the Virgin.

The route is interesting, despite the rather low altitude, since it leads to one of the best panoramas.The view is very beautiful and includes the entire Valle del Sole, the Siera groups, the Creta Forata, the Cimon and the uninterrupted expanse of fir trees of the Longrone forest.The walk is simple, short, not at all strenuous, perfect for those who want to enjoy an excellent view without getting up too early in the morning and without needing any training.The current route, a broad and rather monotonous cart track, only partly retraces the original one, a delightful path that climbed gently into the forest.

Turn-by-turn directions
From Cima square, leave the village and follow the signs for “Val Sesis”, “sorgenti del Piave”, “rifugio Calvi”.A hundred metres from the last house, a board fixed to a fir tree on the right indicates the start of a cart track that climbs back up the dense forest on the north side of the hill, first along a winding path and then a long, steep diagonal stretch. After this first effort, another traverse, this time to the west, across a gentle slope, is all it takes to reach the statue of the Virgin and the mountain hut.Even though the panorama is already beautiful at this point, remember to follow the trail on the left that leads to the panoramic terrace overlooking the valley.It’s worth it!
