The route starts on the right side of the Jardim Botânico. At the beginning, we get up through the sidewalk where the houses of the city are disappearing giving way to a dense tropical forest. Just ahead, it will find the beginning of the trail to the waterfalls. Following the trail, it arrives at the first waterfall and continuing on the side trail we can find the second and highest waterfall. Following the signs of the park that towards to Corcovado Hill, you have a trail up on a natural path until you reach an asphalted street. Continuing straight ahead and with several beautiful views of the city, you get to the train station that takes up to the monument of Cristo Redentor. There starts the down trail to Rodrigo de Freitas Lagoon through the another natural path inside the forest. At the end of the trail, you reach the Jardim Botânico street and crossing the street just ahead, you reach Rodrigo de Freitas Lagoon, where it is worth drinking a delicious coconut water.
Author’s recommendation
We recommend not to bathe in the Horto´s waterfalls, because the way up afterwards is long and walking in wet clothes can be bother you.
