It now goes downhill in a zigzag, past the Rappenenschliff, a gigantic steep gully with broken rocks in the red sandstone. In the further course we cross the so-called Silbereck, an area not far from the Haberer Tower where silver ore was formerly mined.
The Haberer Tower marks the end of the tour. The 16 meter high, sandstone-walled tower was built in 1899 in honor of the former medical councilor and sponsor of the Renchtal baths, Dr. Albert Haberer.

Destination
Turn-by-turn directions
After a short time, this path crosses a wide gravel road again. We go left, follow the signs to the Sexauer hut. We leave the hut on the left and continue uphill to the “Teufelskanzel” location, turn right there and stay on the path that leads us over stairs directly to the Teufelskanzel. We climb this partly on steps, partly on foot-wide paths - surefootedness and careful hiking are required here!
After the Teufelskanzel, the path meets a wide gravel path again. We turn right and follow this for about 500 meters, then hike right at the Wildwies location over a foot-wide path past the Bärenfelsen to Marienruhe. There we keep left downhill to the next intersection, then right again. A narrow path zigzags downhill to the Rappenschliff location, over the Silbereckle to the Haberer Tower.
After we have enjoyed the view from the tower, we go back the same way for about 50 meters before a small path turns off on the left. The path ends above the Kreuzkopfschanze, just turn right once more and we are back at the starting point.

From here it is approx. 1 kilometer to the Kreuzkopfschanze.
By road
Both the Rheintalautobahn (A5) and the Bodenseautobahn (A81) can be reached quickly via the federal road 28.How to get to the hiking car park at Kreuzkopfschanze: Autobahn A5, exit Appenweier, B28 via Oberkirch and Oppenau to Bad Peterstal-Griesbach, exit from Bad Griesbach, the entrance to the Kreuzkopfschanze is on the right-hand side
