Watch out for roots, rocks and stones so that you don't lose your footing. After rainy days and especially in spring, autumn and winter, the paths can be wet and therefore slippery.

After completing the walk, you can of course visit the Lindemannsruhe forester's lodge and enjoy the wide range of gastronomic delights on offer in the wine villages of the Freinsheim holiday region.

Lindemannsruhe Hikers' Car Park

Turn-by-turn directions

The hiking trail is marked by the Freinsheim branch of the Palatinate Forest Association with signs (black "2" on a white background) on trees along the way. From the hikers' car park, the trail leads into the forest on the opposite side of the road to the right of the Lindemannsruhe forester's lodge. After 250 metres, turn right and walk straight ahead for a good 800 metres following the markings. You will reach the Gayersbrunnen and can make a short detour to Schillerfelden here (150m, follow the sign). The hiking trail now turns to the north and from here onwards follows the same route as the "Ganerbenweg" premium hiking trail. You reach the Bismarck Tower (ascent to the viewing platform is highly recommended, for opening times see "Author's tip") and are only a good 400 metres from the starting point, the Lindemannsruhe forester's lodge.

From April to the end of October on weekends and public holidays with bus line 489 from Bad Dürkheim train station via Wurstmarktplatz, Annaberg, Weilach to Lindemannsruhe and back.
From 09.35 hrs to 17.35 hrs at 2-hour intervals. Last return trip from Lindemannsruhe 19.53 hrs.

Getting there

From Bad Dürkheim:
At the "Wurstmarktkreisel" in the direction of Leistadt. Before entering Leistadt, take the 3rd exit at the roundabout towards Höningen on the L518 to the Lindemannsruhe car park.

From the Dt. Weinstraße (B 271):
In the centre of Kallstadt at the church in the direction of Leistadt. At the roundabout at the entrance to Leistadt, take the 2nd exit towards Höningen on the L518 to the Lindemannsruhe car park.
