The pentagonal way-markers lead through the Wittgenstein villages of Elsoff, Christianseck, Diedenshausen and Alertshausen and the Hessian village of Neuludwigsdorf.
The red kite, bird of the year 2002, soars above everything that connects the two federal states.
The loop trail at altitudes of 380 to 675 metres offers lush natural surroundings with magnificent views of the Wittgensteiner Land and the Ederbergland. There is great diversity along this route and numerous options for walking the trail.
It’s not just discerning hikers who get their money’s worth here but also cyclists. Parts of the route over the hills are particularly suitable for families with pushchairs and for wheelchair and walking frame users.
There are ten signposted access roads that can be used for tours of various lengths. Experience an interesting “border experience” with an impressive long-distance view!

Tips and hintsThe Rotmilan-Höhenweg (Red Kite Ridgeway) is distinguished in particular by its flexibility. This tour offers both demanding stretches as well as long, asphalted sections. Whether active hikers, cyclists, walkers or people with limited mobility – The trail is suitable for everyone.

Getting thereFrom Bad Berleburg, you can get to Elsoff via the L717 in the direction of Diedenshausen - stay to the right after Gasthof Restaurant Laibach in the direction of Christianseck/Elsoff.
(You can also start out on the trail from Gasthof Restaurant Laibach and Christianseck).
Or drive from Bad Berleburg via the B480 in the direction of Raumland. In Raumland, stay to the left and follow the L553 in the direction of Dotzlar/Schwarzenau. After Schwarzenau, follow the signs and turn left off the L902 in the direction of Elsoff.
