Intragna-Calascio-Mosogno
This route passes through an inaccessible area and is therefore closed. Current information
Intragna can be reached by the Centovalli Railway (Locarno-Domodossola) and a visit to the village is a must. Especially as the highest bell tower (65 m) in Ticino is here and the Regional Museum of Centovalli and Pedemonte is located there. The tour can be started from here or from Pila, accessible by cable car from Intragna (runs from March to November). Pila is a beautiful tiny village on a green terrace. The trail leads through wonderful chestnut and beech forests to Cremaso di Sotto and then on to Calascio. In Calascio, the landscape opens up. A pretty little church stands on a panoramic hill. During the mountain spring, the gentian blossoms here and the area turns blue. On a bit more difficult path, you continue towards Frescheina and further down to Pign, where you can see the ruins of a farm. Further down, you cross the Isorno river before tackling the final climb to Mosogno. In Mosogno the bus departs (check departure times).
Attention: The Intragna-Pila-Costa cable car is closed until further notice due to renovation work. Information is available at www.ascona-locarno.com/funivia-intragna or at our Info Desks.
