Euskotren: Sections E1 & E2: Hendaye-Irun-San Sebastian-Bilbao (Matiko)

Euskotren is a 1m narrow-gauge railway system run by the Basque government. It effectively forms a 181km extension of the Spanish FEVE or the “Ferrocarriles (Espanoles) de Via Estrecha” (literally "Spanish narrow-gauge railway”) system.

Starting in Hendaye (France), it runs alongside the Camino del Norte through Irun, San Sebastian, Zarautz, and Deba before heading inland towards Durango and Bilbao. A branch line also connects Bermeo and Gernika to Bilbao.

It is frequently used by hikers attempting those caminos in several smaller sections to get to/from major cities/airports to where those sections start/finish.
