This circular walk through the Radovljica countryside leads across fields from Lesce to Vrba – the birthplace of Slovenia's greatest poet, France Prešern – and then onwards to Begunje na Gorenjskem, where you can see the cultural attractions of the village centre. In Vrba you can visit Prešern's birthhouse and the village centre, while in Begunje na Gorenjskem there are two small works by the architect Jože Plečnik as well as the Katzenstein Mansion and the Avsenik Museum.
It takes around four hours to walk the 16km-long route, however, we recommend that you allow more time to visit the museums and cultural monuments along the way. Throughout the walk you will be accompanied by beautiful views of the Julian Alps and the Karavanke mountains, and you will also see the authentic Gorenjska landscape with fields of crops, meadows, orchards and apiaries.
The route has been designed such that it is also suitable for cycling.
