Hiking crosscountry on game trails from Lucky Peak State Recreation Area and a portion of Arrowrock Reservoir along the North tributary, crossing the rugged mountains of the Sawtooth Wilderness Area to the headwaters of the South tributary, then looping back following along the South tributary - about 253 miles through the Boise National Forest, the Sawtooth Wilderness Area, and the Sawtooth National Forest. In addition, you will be treking through the Soldier Mountains and the Danskin Mountains on the way back to the Arrowrock Reservoir and the Lucky Peak State Recreation Area. This rugged crosscountry route can possibly be completed in 21 days for the physically fit who can efficiently navigate through the Sawtooth Mountains where the headwaters of the Boise River originate.
