A hike up to the Kobler Alm pasture, Pfunds
Farming the Alpine pastures and exploiting the treeless high valleys for grazing are some of the oldest forms of agriculture anywhere in the Alps – and are still practised in accordance with tradition in the Oberes Gericht area today. This cultural heritage is upheld, especially in Pfunds where there are still a total of four Alpine pastures in the municipality up to which livestock are driven in the summer.
This short hike is the easiest way to visit one of the hill farms in Pfunds that offers refreshments. From the car park, simple woodland paths lead up to the Kobler Alm pasture, an inviting location from which to look out and enjoy a magnificent view over Pfunds and the Oberes Gericht. Alternatively, you can also take the gravel access road up to the farm – a slightly longer route, but less steep.
