The Sentiero degli Dei or the "Way of the Gods" is the most famous hiking trail on the Amalfi Coast and one of the most beautiful trails in Italy.
On the Sentiero degli Dei from Agerola-Bomerano to Positano, the route follows the coastline of the Amalfi Coast, almost completely isolated from civilization. At about 500 m above sea level, the path of the gods runs through a wild and lonely rocky landscape. Through almost untouched nature with typical Mediterranean vegetation, we pass shady oak forests, strawberry trees, heather and rosemary broken by impressive rock formations. If you want to explore the Amalfi Coast by hiking and especially away from the big tourist masses, this is the right path for you. The spectacular path with magnificent views over the entire coast requires a head for heights and surefootedness. The special places along the path – Agerola with its cheese specialties, Positano with its houses almost vertically one above the other and Nocelle, which has been isolated from the outside world for a long time – add the finishing touches to this beautiful hike.
The path is especially impressive when the visibility is good, then the view extends over the whole Amalfi coast up to the island Capri.
Surefootedness and a head for heights are required.
Since the path is almost all the time in the sun, it is essential to take enough drinking water with you.
Coming from Salerno, take the E45 and A3, then again follow the E45 to Pompei. After the town, follow the SS145 southwards and then take the SS366 and continue to Agerola-Bomerano.
