The route follows the southern slopes of the Begunjščica. The climb from Preval pass is quite hard, but not very problematic. The trail runs mostly through forest.
From Roblek hut the trail climbs down to the Preval pass where a shepherd's hut still serves milk, dairy products and beverages. You could still see the old pastures where alpine grazing was very popular in the old days.
Alpine grazing has been affected by the general situation in stock farming and agriculture and by the decline of farming. Many of the alpine pastures at higher altitudes are difficult to reach and are being abandoned, whilst those at lower altitudes and closer to vital farming areas are being maintained. Permanent settlements have grown on a number of pastures, whilst others have been overwhelmed by tourism or have wholly been transformed into tourist residences.
You will also find a vantage point on Ukanov štruc below Čisovec, en route. Dobrča is a popular destination for MTB riders, hikers and sledging (in winter), so you might find a few people up there at any given time.
It is almost compulsary to tryout the dairy products on one of the pastures :)
Make reservation at the hut on Dobrča in advance.
Carefull on the climb, otherwise no special safty issues.
