On the tour through the city we pass many of the famous sights of Manhattan and can admire different architectural styles. The Flatiron Building with its iron-like shape, the Grand Central Terminal with its romantic façade and the Empire State Building are just a few examples of impressive buildings on the way through the city. It also crosses Broadway with its brightly lit billboards. This section of the route is particularly impressive in the evening, as both the star ceiling of the Grand Central Terminal and the Empire State Building are particularly well illuminated. The "Top of the Rock" of the Rockefeller Center and the Empire State Building are particularly suitable for getting an overview of the city and enjoying a special panorama. For shopping enthusiasts, the large Macy's department store on Herald Square is a must, while Madison Square Garden, which can also be visited, attracts sports enthusiasts. The Times Square and its famous red staircases are full of hustle and bustle. We find peace and quiet in Central Park which is also called the "Green Lung of New York City".

Turn-by-turn directions
From the starting point, the Flatiron Building, the footpath leads us across 5th Ave and Broadway north through the city to Herald Square. There we turn left onto W 35th St and reach the large Macy's department store. We continue on 7th Ave and W 33rd St to Madison Square Garden. We return via Broadway to the famous red staircase of Times Square at W 47th St. Afterwards we continue north via 7th Ave to Central Park by taking a short walk. It can be extended at will, because there is a lot to discover in this huge park. Via the Ave of the Americas (6th Ave) in southern direction we reach the Rockefeller Center with the open-air ice rink in front. To get to the Grand Central Terminal, we first turn left onto W 49th St, then right onto Madison Ave, and finally left onto E 42nd St. The last attraction of the tour, the Empire State Building, can be reached by following Park Avenue until we turn right onto E 33rd St. Shortly after crossing 5th Ave, the Empire State Building rises into the sky in front of us and we have reached the end of the city tour through the centre of Manhattan.

Parking in parking garages in Manhattan very expensive (1/2 hour can be over $40) and therefore not recommended. Park outside, such as the Rego Center Mall, 96-05 Queens Blvd., Rego Park NY 11374 and take the subway to Manhattan.Coordinates
