Kallavesi lake invites you to adventure in archipelago nature, that wraps the whole city of Kuopio in its arms. The starting point of this route can be reached by city bikes, bus and boat. You can rent kayaking equipment from Saana Tourist Center, enjoy lunch and perhaps also enjoy the Finnish sauna. From Saana you can paddle in the shelter of the archipelago to wonderful natural sites in the middle of the city. Outdoor life couldn't be easier!
Saaristokatu, Archipelago Street, which connects the Saaristokaupunki district to the center of Kuopio, is one of the most beautiful scenic routes in Finland and can also be explored by paddling! Snacks can be enjoyed at Pölhö Island’s campfire site or have a break at the ice cream kiosk. Saaristokatu runs through four bridges between Kumpusaari and Käränkä. The bridges are named after he artists who worked in Kuopio; Ellen Thesleff Bridge, Fridolf Weurlander Bridge, Anton Lindforss Bridge and Unto Koistinen Bridge.

You can reach Saana comfortably by foot while admiring the beautiful city of Kuopio along the way. Saana is about 2.8 kilometres from the Kuopio market square and about 3.7 kilometres from the Kuopio passenger harbour.
By city bike
You can ride to Saana conveniently with a Vilkku electric bike.The nearest city bike station is located right next to Saana with the name “Saana”.
Bus lines 5 and 6 take you to the stop Siikaranta E, from where Saana is about 450 metres away by foot. Bus routes and schedules are conveniently available via the Kuopio region public transport’s Vilkku journey planner.
There is plenty of free parking space in front of Saana. You can drive to Saana from the Kuopio centre in about five minutes.
