This canoe route starts from Myllysaari, bypasses the harbour area and continues towards Pikisaari Island. Watch out for boats and cruisers. Canoe under the bridges, whereafter you will enter the vast open stretch of Sunisenselkä. The actual rest spot along the route is the Ruohosaari lean-to shelter. You may also land by the beaches in Sammonlahti, Korkkitehtaanranta and Tyysterniemi. On the beaches, canoeists must land on the edges of the beaches in order to avoid causing any danger to swimmers, whom the beaches are primarily meant for. You can visit the Karhusaari lean-to shelter on your way in either direction.
TAKE CARE OF YOUR SAFETY! Lappeenranta Harbour is very busy with boats and cruisers. Cargo ships operate along a deep-water route from Saimaa Canal to mills that are located by Lake Saimaa. Canoeists must give way to other vessels and stay away from the ship routes, keeping close to the shores. Watch out for the waves from large vessels!
