Almost totally off-road as long as you are prepared to follow the canal towpath for some miles in Cheshire
easy
Distance 50 km
This is a route with almost no road stretches. A small housing estate to get from the Wirral Way in Parkgate to the Harp Inn is the only road section apart from a short section of the Deeside industrial estate. The stretch from Chester to Beeston is along the Shropshire Union Canal. This has a tarmac towpath out of Chester but, for the last few miles, one is riding along a grassed tow-path. A diversion along country lanes is possible.
