Circular, 40 mile undulating (with a couple of short but steep climbs) route on back roads between Over Wallop and the northern part of the New Forest.

This circular 40 mile cycle route takes in farmland, woods, nature reserves and view points. I particularly like the view from the top of Dean Hill, once you have your breath back. The route sticks to back roads, crossing the A36 and A27 at points where there is good traffic visibility. Some roads are narrow and twisty, so if you have children I recommend strict single file on these sections.
We travelled the route in August 2015 on tandem, and the undulations did make it rather heavy work on occasions, but a solo bike would maintain its momentum better.
There are plenty of options to shorten the route.
If travelling by train, Grateley (on the Waterloo to Salisbury line) is three mkiles north of the route, and Mottisfont & Dunbridge (on the Salisbury to Romsey and Southampton line) is right on the route.
