Heading northwest from Castlederg on the Castlefinn road the route takes in all the border crossings westwards as far as sruhangarve bridge. A short distance before this it follows a closed mountain track through Killeter forest dropping on to the road at 'big bridge'. Just before the border at Leaghany another track goes off to the left, turning left again at Bannadoo. It eventually exits the forest area near the shore of Lough Derg and follows the road to Pettigo. From here it follows the small road to Castlederg turning left climbing towards Black Gap and the Causeway rampart. This track is difficult with a bike, a better option is to take the road that runs parallel downhill to Killeter and back to Castlederg.
Using viewranger to navigate through the remote Killeter forest area is essential as there are many other pathways and one could easily get lost.
