Down the Usk, along the Troy and up the Monnow. Almost a tour of Monmouthshire rivers, hills and castles. This takes the hilly way from Abergavenny to Usk, for an easier start you could follow the valley. Then along the edge of the hills to Monmouth. From Monmouth climb up to newcastle then back down to the Monnow valley near Skenfrith and back up to Grosmont (good pub & beer festival). Back down to Pontrillas and Eywas Harold. Along golden valley and round to Longtown at the foot of the Black Mountains, then back to Abergavenny
