26 mile circular route between Bletchingdon and Oxford using Sustrans routes 5 &51.
easy
Distance 40 km
We started the route from the campsite just outside Bletchingdon, that extension can obviously be ignored if you just want to follow the circular route.
The route follows Sustrans 5 & 51 with the exception of the link west of Bletchingdon. Where the Sustrans route 5 meets the B4027 (between Enslow and Wootton) it is a muddy track which turns into a narrow muddy path for 100m or so. We rode it on touring bikes and it was doable a day after heavy rain.
The route follows the A44 for several miles, however this part is on a decent shared use footpath away from the carriageway.
Sustrans signage is pretty good for most of the ride, there are a couple of unclkear points. Just look for confirmation signs and if you don't see them turn round and check the alternative route. Changing from route 5 to route 51 in Oxford wasn't very clear so you might want to check that on the map.
Overall it's a pretty easy route, the only significant climb is around Bletchingdon, otherwise pretty flat. There are lots of refreshment stops available in Oxford including bike cafes, remeber to take a decent bike lock - Oxford is a bike theft hotspot..
