Day one of the final leg of the 4 compass points tour starts from Stockport Station, before picking up the Middlewood Way cycle trail to Macclesfield. From here it's a series of B and minor roads winding into Staffordshire. Crossing west of the M6 the route then runs roughly parallel south, towards the West Midlands. Skirting to the west of the Englands industrial heartland, the route follows the Staffordshire & Worcestershire Canal to Blakedown - the destination for day 1, and home to Edward, the inspiration behind undertaking this 4,000km tour.
