The roads in Äitsaari are almost ideal for cyclists. The pavement is in good condition and the lake, field or forest landscapes are beautiful. There is just little other traffic. The whole Äitsaari is a prehistoric settlement area. Along the route some sites to visit, for example a rock painting of Kolmikyötisvuori. A “art road of experiences” is also being built next to the road, which includes a wide range of interesting sights.
Jaakko Hänninen, Finland's most famous professional cyclist, from Äitsaari, has also been training in this beautifully rolling rural landscape for years. The road is widely known among other cycling enthusiasts as well. Along the road you will find a couple of cafes, three accommodations and several small attractions, in addition to two sheds.
Boat transport between Äitsaari and Utula runs throughout the summer between Utula pier and Karonniemi pier. Reservations for transportation should always be made to Utula Lautturi in advance.
