Rhineland-Palatinate Cycle Route - Hermeskeil - Birkenfeld - Thallichtenberg Castle

Starting from Lichtenberg Castle, which is well worth seeing, the route leads through a scenic area across a hilly landscape of meadows and forests. From the Heimbacher Höhe, you can enjoy the best views before the trip descends into the Nahe valley. On warm summer days in particular, a rest on the banks of the Nahe near Kronweiler is recommended. In Birkenfeld a visit to the Landesmuseum is a must. The residential town is ideally situated for a stopover. The next day you can continue your journey through the Traun valley into the Hunsrück-Hochwald National Park. At the charcoal-burner village of Börfink, it is worth making a detour (last section on foot) to the Ochsenbruch, the largest moor in the National Park. The route leads through the forest to Hermeskeil. On arrival here, it is worth visiting the fire brigade museum or the aircraft museum
