It is recommended to make deviations from the route, e.g. to Valkmusa National Park, where you can explore the unique swamp landscape and pick cranberries and even cloudberries. In case you are looking for something more filling to eat, you can fry sausages in the riverside lean-tos or enjoy the sweet treats from the Susikoski café.
At the end of your excursion, make sure to stop to admire the award-winning Karhula River Park.

Most of the busiest road sections have bikeways for cyclists. The route runs along public roads in rural areas, but the traffic volumes are low. There is a bit more traffic on the road section between the Susikoski and Kultaankoski rapids, but not to a significant extent.Start

The starting point of the route is located in the immediate vicinity of the Karhula bus station.The nearest long-distance bus stop is in Sutela, 500 metres from the route.
Getting there
On the motorway towards Kotka, take ramp 75, turn left at the first traffic lights and then turn right at the following T intersection, continue for 650 metres and you are in the Jokipuisto park.Parking

Equipment
For the route, a good bike suitable for expedition cycling is recommended. The route consists mostly of permanently paved road. Only by Kultaa and Kuovinkallio lay-by areas there will be a short dirt road sections to pass by.Related Offers
