The Tauern Cycle Path is an experience you will not quickly forget and you will be guaranteed to return.
Even if there were certainly some extreme athletes who could complete the Tauern Cycle Path in one day, it is still possible to divide the 270 km into several stages and to dive intensively into a region that has so much more to offer than just a sporting challenge. More than 100 natural attractions and excursion destinations await discovery by you on the stages.
By the way: of course you can start the circuit from any town.
The tour starts in Niedernsill and leads along the well-marked Tauern Cycle Path via Kaprun to Bruck an der Glocknerstraße and from here towards Schüttdorf, through the Porsche Allee and along the lakeside promenade to the marina at lake Zell. Turn left and follow the road, past the Prielau Castle, through Maishofen and via Gerling to Saalfelden. From here the cycle path runs along the Saalach river through the villages of Weißbach, St. Martin, Lofer, via the "Kleines Deutsches Eck" and Großgmain to Salzburg.
The Tauern Cycle Path can be cycled in stages and from any village. It is also possible to continue on to Passau.
