On the Leine-Heide Cycle Route from Leinefelde to Hamburg
The Leine-Heide cycle path is certainly not the best known or most popular long-distance cycle path in Germany. However, it is not as congested as some river cycle paths and has its very own charm. We follow the river Leine from its source in Thuringia through Lower Saxony to Hamburg. Along the way we pass interesting places and sites such as the initial reception camp in Friedland and the university town of Göttingen. Further along the route are exciting historical sites such as Plesse Castle, Hardenberg Ruin and Marienburg Castle. The state capital Hanover naturally has a few things to offer and for adventure and animal lovers the Serengeti Park awaits in Hodenhagen. Then it's off to the beautiful landscape of the Lünerburger Heide, which is especially worth seeing in autumn with its purple flowering plants. Passing Heide Park Soltau and Wilseder Berg, we reach the port city of Hamburg. Here we reach the hustle and bustle of life again and can hardly save ourselves from museums,
