The route covers a total distance of approximately 250 kilometres. Accommodation and food services are located at regular intervals that can be covered in a day. Several days should be reserved to cover the entire distance. Alternatively, it is possible to select shorter sections or to complete the southern or northern section by crossing Lake Pielinen by ferry at around half distance.
Remember to pack a map and route description, which can be downloaded from the website www.koli.fi/bicycling.

The bicycle trail map for the Pielinen Circuit (1:40,000) shows trail suggestions for biking around Pielinen, Finland’s fourth largest lake as well as rest stops and sights.
You can either go the entire circuit or just sections of it, according to your preference. If you wish to travel the entire circuit, it’s a good idea to reserve several days. Between Koli and Vuonislahti, you can take advantage of the water bus, Suvityttö, which also ferries bicycles.
