Rhine Cycle Route (D-Route 8)
The Rhine Cycle Route, or D-Route 8, runs along the Rhine on German territory from Lake Constance to the Dutch border.
The more than 1000 km long cycle route in Germany is part of the Rhine Cycle Route from the source of the river in the Swiss Alps to its mouth in the North Sea. Internationally, the route is known as EuroVelo 15. From Lake Constance, we cycle along the river in various sections. From Lake Constance we start our cycle tour in the direction of Freiburg, stops at the Rhine Falls near Schaffhausen and at the Holzbrücke in Bad Säckingen are obligatory. The route continues through the landscape of the Kaiserstuhl, past Strasbourg and Karlsruhe. Speyer and Worms impress with their sacred and historic buildings. From Mainz to Cologne we are on the classic cycle route along the Rhine: wine-growing areas and towns worth seeing await us here. Finally, we cycle through the Ruhr region to the Lower Rhine and on to the Dutch border.
