This tour leads us through the beautiful landscape of the South Palatinate.
The cycle route is surrounded by vineyards, fruit trees, fields, meadows and the Rheinaue wetlands as it wends its way through romantic villages with historic half-timbered houses. The route runs mainly on surfaced agricultural roads and cycle paths. There are just a few unsurfaced sections, but they are still suitable for cycling. There are train stations or rail halts along the route in Winden, Steinweiler and Rheinzabern.
The cycle route leads from Pleisweiler-Oberhofen on the German Wine Route through idyllic meadows and fields towards Neupotz on the Rhine. It traverses Germany’s largest tobacco-growing region near Hatzenbühl, and gives you an opportunity to visit the Terra Sigillata Museum in Rheinzabern. This very flat cycle route is particularly suitable for families.
Take a break at one of Neupotz’s gourmet restaurants.
Cyclists must obey the German highway code (StVo).
Please wear a helmet. Touring bicycle or bike with multiple gears, weatherproof clothing, drinks and supplies.
