Along the blue avenue
The Müritz-Elde waterway connects the large lakes in the heart of the state with the river Elbe. The route along the blue avenue is also a refreshing pleasure for cyclists. With its half-timbered towns, villages, castles, blooming rapeseed fields, lakes and forests, this fantastic landscape lies between Lake Plauer See and one of the most impressive river valleys in Europe.
Western Europe's largest bear protection centre - the BÄRENWALD Müritz - is located in the town Bad Stuer at Lake Plauer See. It is an animal protection project of the organisation VIER PFOTEN.
