For the first time on your Danube adventure you'll awake in the same town you went to sleep in. Hop back on the bike in Melk and continue westward to Grein.
Please note: It is possible to shorten today's cycle by taking a river ferry from Wiesen (see 46km mark) to the south bank of Grein. The ferry is paid locally. If you wish to cycle instead, you continue straight on until you reach a bridge. Cross the bridge and cycle towards Grein (5km, roughly 20 minutes).
Your day starts with a view of the massive baroque Benedictine Monastery named Melk Abbey. You will have plenty time to visit this after breakfast. This cycle stage is quite spectacular as the wide valleys of Nibelungenau flows down through the narrowest section the Danube near Strudengau. The city of Grein awaits and a visit to Austria's oldest theatre is an option if you wish.
