Jotunheimen Rundt ist der härteste Radmarathon Norwegens! Auf einer Strecke von 430 km sind 3 große Anstiege zu bewältigen. Insgesamt 5340 Höhenmeter.
Diese Angaben stammen aus den Aufzeichnungen meines Radcomputers. Die Höhenmeter weichen von den offiziellen Angaben ab, sind aber realistischer.
Der letzte große Anstieg auf das Sognefjell ist nach 300 km zu bewältigen. Das ist dann auch der Grund, warum die Tour so anspruchsvoll ist.
Das Rennen findet jährlich im Juni statt und wird in einer Etappe gefahren. Da nur 600 Teilnehmer zugelassen sind, ist am Tag der Anmeldung Eile geboten, da die Startplätze rasch vergeben sind. Start ist 18 bzw. 21 Uhr.
Hierfür ist eine intensive Vorbereitung notwendig.
Da das nicht jedermann Sache ist, kann die Tour natürlich auch in Etappen gefahren werden. Campingplätze mit Hütten für die Übernachtung gibt es genügend im Laufe der Tour.

Norheimsund is a small town located in the Hardangerfjord region of western Norway. The area is known for its amazing scenery, including towering mountains and pristine waterways. Granvin is a nearby village that can be easily accessed by bike from Norheimsund, making it the perfect destination for a road cycling excursion. The roads in this area are well maintained and offer stunning views of the surrounding countryside at every turn. The first stage leads from Norheimsund along the Hardangerfjord to Granvin. A hilly road bike tour with max. 10.2% climbs.

One of my favourites takes you on a spectacular journey from Gaupne via Høyheimsvik and Luster to Skjolden.

The second stage takes you 17 km by road bike to Urnes Stavkyrkje church and back towards Skjolden. The last climb (max. 15.6%) is beautiful and offers a magnificent view of the Lustrafjorden and the surrounding mountains. The ride was definitely harder than I thought but I made it to the top and it was worth every pedal stroke! If you are looking for a challenging but rewarding road cycling route, be sure to check out the climb to Urnes Stavkyrkje church.
