Family vacations in the south of Denmark
Children will definitely not be bored in Southern Denmark. When they've had enough of building sandcastles and swimming in the sea, there are countless attractions throughout the region.
At the top of the list is, of course, Legoland Billund. The amusement park is most famous for its "Miniland," where famous landmarks are recreated in miniature from Lego. Numerous rides and attractions ensure an unforgettable day at the park.
If you are vacationing near the city of Ribe - the oldest city in Denmark - you should definitely visit the Viking Center. In the adventure museum, actors impressively recreate the hard life of the Vikings.
Animal lovers can take a trip to Svendborg in the south of the island of Funen. In the zoological museum Naturama there are lots of exciting exhibitions and hands-on stations to discover.
Wadden Sea World Heritage
The Wadden Sea is a unique natural area that stretches from the Netherlands through Germany to Denmark along the North Sea coast. Life on the coast takes place entirely in time with the tides. Grey seals, harbor seals, sea creatures of all kinds and of course millions of sea birds have their habitat here.
The Wadden Sea has been designated a Unesco World Heritage Site and is strictly protected. It can best be explored on a guided mudflat hike. If you want to learn more about the natural environment and its inhabitants, you could visit the Wadden Sea Center Vester Vedsted near Ribe, with its interactive exhibition.

Outdoor experiences in southern Denmark
Admittedly, you won't have to overcome great differences in altitude in flat southern Denmark. Nevertheless, the landscape is surprisingly varied: from the long sandy beaches on the North Sea over the dunes to the agricultural South Jutland and on to the island of Funen with its stately castles and gently sloping beaches. In the Danish South Sea there are many small islands to discover, some of which are even connected by bridges.
The landscape of southern Denmark can be explored particularly well by bicycle. Especially the well-developed coastal bike paths invite you to extensive bike routes - even for several days. But there is also a lot to do for hikers. You have the choice: bird watching in the dune and heath landscape, round hikes around small and large islands or a classic mudflat hike. A small selection of beautiful routes can be found on the map;
